He was an artist,
teacher and writer. He had major influence in the development of
Singapore art. He was the first in attempting a synthesis of distinctive
aesthetic traditions of the East and West through pioneering the
style known as Nanyang School Chinese painting style.
Mr. Chen Chong
Swee is one of the Singapore Watercolour Society founding members
and was the treasurer for many years. His painting subjects were
often composed from his surrounding environment and daily life activities
for he believed that a painting must be understood and be a recollection
of ones thoughts. The many inspirational masterpieces were
form his numerous tours to Bali and East Coast of West Malaysia.
