Earlier Art Journey & Background 

Thanga began painting as a child in primary school and continued doing so into Secondary School and Pre University, studying Art as a subject.

After his education in Singapore he then read Law for several years in UK, and became a lawyer in Singapore since October 1984, and continues to practice.

He returned to his love for art in late 2018 and explored oil painting/portraiture at My Art Space and Still Life under Artist Wee Shoo Leong.

Watercolour Journey

He then became active aa an Urban Sketcher with USKsg sometime in 2019 and attended regional events/workshops at Asialink Penang 2024 and Asialink Phuket 2025.

He also participated at the exhibition ‘Drawn to Life’ in 2024.
Thanga’s watercolour mentors are Alvaro Castagnet, Khoo Cheang Jin, and Li Ching Heng.

Thanga has been painting in the watercolour medium for the last six (6) years since 2019 - cityscapes, landscapes, figure drawing and portraiture. He currently is focused on exploring watercolour in the atmospheric style and would like to work on his art in this direction, and in future, explore other styles too.
